Electrician and Network Cabling Technology

The Electrician and Network Cabling Technology program prepares students for two closely related skilled trades: electrical construction and network cabling.

Students will learn how to install electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and communication cables while developing hands-on skills in troubleshooting, cabling, blueprint reading, and Canadian Electrical Code requirements.

The Electrician and Network Cabling Technology program combines training in construction and maintenance electrical work with network cabling installation and repair.

Throughout the program, students learn how to install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components used in buildings. They also gain practical skills in pulling cable, mounting cable, installing jacks, testing cable, and setting up voice and data connections.

This combined program helps students develop skills in two related trades, giving graduates more career options. Students can pursue work as network cabling technicians or continue toward an electrician apprenticeship.

The program also includes hands-on training, electrical theory, Canadian Electrical Code, installation methods, structured cabling, fiber-optic media, estimating, and safety practices.
